We are a small kennel in Western Maine. Our adventure with Samoyeds began in 1995 when Diamond (Diamond Tundra of Lynnemyre) joined our family as companion for daughter Kylie. There was no mistake that she was Kylie's and Kylie was hers! In 2002, we added a new puppy, Misty (Dakota's Acadia Mist) and took a leap into the dog show world. What a shock our first show was, but since then we have met some wonderful people, traveled to many interesting places, seen some beautiful dogs and made some really good friends.
Wanting a kennel name that both reflected our location and our Christian faith, we settled on First Light. Maine receives the first light of the nation and also Christ is called the "Light of the World". Our first litter was born Jan. 28, 2005...4 boys, 2 girls. One of those girls is our Kiska (Ch. Firstlyte's Pure In Heart). Kiska means "pure" in Russian. We have since had 2 other litters and are expecting our 4th litter in just a few weeks. Marty (Ch. Moonlighter's Wicked Wise Guy) has been a wonderful addition to our pack...he truly is a joy to live with.
Our human family consists of myself (Tasha), Mark, Kylie and Spencer. The kids help with caring for the dogs, helping at shows and they are wonderful puppy snugglers!
